This project took about a month. The retaining wall, built in 1918, was in need of repair as it was falling down in several places. The challenge with this project was making mortar which had an ‘old’ look to it to blend in with the parts of the wall we did not need to repair. We did this through experimenting with colors and then creating a stippling technique with a trowel to indicate age. We had to create new caps and fix stairs as well. This was an extensive project but the the client was very pleased with the results.
